Canyon Partners (“Canyon”), a global alternative investment manager with over $26 billion in assets under management, today announced that Georg Machinist and Matt Brody have joined the firm as Managing Directors leading capital formation efforts. Mr. Machinist will serve as Head of Americas Capital Formation and Mr. Brody will serve as Head of Real Estate Capital Formation. Mr. Brody will also serve as a member of the Investment Committee and Management Committee for Canyon Partners Real Estate. Both executives will be based in the firm’s New York office.
Mr. Machinist brings to Canyon more than 17 years of experience in fundraising and product roles, most recently serving as Managing Director within the Global Client Solutions Group at KKR Credit. Prior to KKR, Mr. Machinist held senior fundraising positions at PJT Park Hill, Consonance Capital and VantagePoint Alternative Investments.
Mr. Brody brings more than 21 years of experience in real estate capital formation and investments, most recently serving as Head of Real Estate Capital and Lead Product Specialist at Apollo, where he led sales, marketing and product strategy for the global real estate credit and equity business. Prior to that, Mr. Brody held leadership roles spanning investment and client-centric responsibilities at Tishman Speyer, Angelo Gordon and Walton Street Capital.

With the addition of Mr. Machinist and Mr. Brody, Canyon has now hired five industry veterans over the last year, strengthening its senior leadership team across various focus areas and geographies. Recent hires have included James Anderson, Head of EMEA Capital Formation; Ricard Janson, Senior Vice President, EMEA Capital Formation; and Ari Dukas, Managing Director and lead credit product specialist.
