Cred, the leading global digital asset lending and borrowing platform serving customers in over 180 countries, today announced that veteran technology executive Cliff Edwards has joined the company as chief marketing officer to help accelerate understanding of blockchain technology and to promote innovative use cases for digital assets.
“Cliff’s proven track record as an award-winning journalist, a successful technology marketing executive and crypto veteran make him an exceptional fit with Cred’s fast-moving global expansion,” said Dan Schatt, Cred’s co-founder and chief executive officer. “Cliff’s strong leadership qualities and communication skills include an ability to take complex technical concepts and translate them to ideas and stories that everyone can relate to. He’ll help usher in the next 100 million users of crypto assets and blockchain.”
Cliff brings more than 20 years of experience to Cred and recently blogged about his reasons for joining Cred. A Northwestern University grad with a bachelors of science degree in journalism and economics and a masters of science in journalism, he served as business editor at The Associated Press and was an award-winning correspondent at BusinessWeek and Bloomberg Businessweek. He has also held senior marketing and communications positions at Netflix and Searchmetrics.
Most recently, he led Communications & Marketing at TRON, an entertainment-focused blockchain platform. At TRON, he conceived and oversaw founder Justin Sun’s winning $4.6 million charity bid to have lunch with billionaire investor Warren Buffett.
“I’m pleased to join Cred, which has one of the best leadership teams I’ve come across in blockchain,” Edwards said. “The team is hyper-focused on helping the unbanked, underbanked and poorly banked people around the world prosper amid this next wave of technological change.”
Edwards’ appointment follows demonstrated company performance, with Cred becoming one of the most trusted names in crypto lending and borrowing. Within the past year, the Bay Area-based company has vaulted to the top of its peer group and is considered the leading provider of crypto financial services, having access to millions in lending capital. Cred has undertaken key licensing, insurance and regulatory work, and Cred services customers in over 180 countries. The company is a founding member of the Universal Protocol Alliance, which aims to create interoperability among digital assets and foster a new level of transparent reserve management infrastructure to support the next 100 million users of crypto assets.
