IAT Insurance Group Trent Haas Chief Claims Officer

Bill Cunningham, CEO of IAT Insurance Group, a leading provider of specialty property/casualty and surety products, announced the hiring of Trent Haas to lead the insurer’s claims unit as Chief Claims Officer.

Haas brings broad claims background and strong leadership experience to the role. “Trent has claims experience across a variety of lines, including property (homeowners and commercial), general liability, and auto liability, which correspond to our specialty markets,” said Cunningham. “His collaborative leadership style and focus on talent development and customer experience make him a great fit to lead our claims organization and join our senior leadership ranks.”

Trent Haas joins IAT from The Hartford where he most recently served as Vice President, General Liability and Auto Litigation Field Claim Operations, leading an operation of 250 claim staff servicing general liability and auto liability claims. Prior to that role, he led an auto and property claim field staff of more than 1,000 as Vice President, Auto & Property Field Claim Operations. Under his leadership, The Hartford achieved #1 ranking in J.D. Power 2016 U.S. Auto Claims Satisfaction. Haas also served as Vice President Claims from 2011 to 2015 where his responsibility spanned oversight for property major case, construction claims, environmental liability and marine claims. Before starting his career at The Hartford, Haas spent four years at The Hartford Steam Boiler progressing from Counsel to Litigation Counsel and Vice President overseeing claims, litigation counsel and strategic products. Earlier in his career, he was a Litigation Associate with Morrison Mahoney LLP in Hartford, CT.

Haas received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is admitted to the Connecticut Bar.
