Announced today at the Global Forum in Basel, Switzerland, HealthVerity has joined Hyperledger, an open source effort created to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies. Hosted by The Linux Foundation, Hyperledger is a global collaboration comprised of leaders in finance, banking, IoT, supply chain, manufacturing and technology. HealthVerity has now aligned itself with an exclusive group of healthcare companies including Aetna, Change Healthcare and Eli Lilly & Company as well as other leading organizations such as Accenture, American Express and J.P. Morgan, all of which are existing members of the community.
Distributed ledger technology holds significant promise for the healthcare industry which is impacted by fragmented and disparate transactional data that can affect real-time outcomes. HealthVerity Consent, the latest HealthVerity solution built on distributed ledger technology, is equipping organizations with the ability to consolidate and manage all individual patient and provider permissions (opt in, opt out, HIPAA consent) in one centralized platform to comply with fast-moving privacy requirements. Through blockchain, HealthVerity Consent has made it possible to deploy a solution where privacy permissions can be stored and managed as secure, immutable records only accessible by authorized parties.
