Thrive Global, the behavior change technology company founded by Arianna Huffington, and Discover, an industry leader in direct banking and payment services, announced today the launch of Thriving Wallet, a new initiative exploring the relationship between finances and whole human well-being. Thriving Wallet illustrates the connection between financial, mental and physical health by leveraging compelling storytelling to highlight research and new insights, and features new Microsteps–Thrive’s small, science-backed steps–that individuals can incorporate into their daily lives to help improve their relationships with money and achieve brighter futures.
“Thriving Wallet highlights the important truth that financial well-being directly impacts our mental and physical health, our self-worth, and what we value and prioritize,” said Arianna Huffington, Founder and CEO of Thrive Global. “And with finances remaining the No. 1 source of stress and anxiety for many people, it’s never been more important to focus on financial well-being alongside physical, mental and emotional health. We’re thrilled to partner with Discover to help people reframe their relationship with money, reduce financial stress, and achieve positive behavior changes through Microsteps, to help people live lives with less stress and more joy – and bring us even closer to achieving our mission of ending the stress and burnout epidemic.” fintech news
Thriving Wallet is the first Thrive Global initiative dedicated to exploring the relationship between money and overall well-being. Through video, editorial and social content, consumers will find expert advice, inspirational personal stories, and data-driven insights demonstrating how building healthy habits through Thrive’s signature Microsteps and Discover’s tools, resources and products can help improve their financial well-being. And an online quiz will help consumers set individual goals and determine which specific financial priorities they should focus on in the year ahead.
“As an industry leader in direct banking and payment services, we are founded on building products, services and resources for real consumer needs. We want to help people take steps every day to spend smarter and save more, which aligns well with Thrive’s commitment to helping people build better habits to improve their lives,” said Julie Loeger, EVP, President of U.S. Cards at Discover. “Whether understanding the basics of your Credit Score, your financial foundation, building credit or saving for your next experience in life, we provide resources to help individuals feel secure with their financial futures. Thriving Wallet aims to help consumers by providing easy-to-understand information so they can manage their everyday finances a bit easier and help individuals reach that next financial milestone.”
Thriving Wallet also marks the launch of Thrive Sciences, Thrive Global’s in-house research practice. Discover is the official launch partner of Thrive Sciences, which brings together audience and industry insights with the latest behavior change science to generate actionable research focused on helping people build healthier habits.
Thriving Wallet and Thrive Sciences launch with original research, commissioned by Discover, that explores the connection between financial health and overall well-being. The study found that nearly 90% of individuals say that financial considerations have an impact on their stress levels. Additionally, 35% of survey respondents reported wishing that they could have a fresh start with regard to their finances, even as they acknowledge that they have no idea where to begin. Thriving Wallet aims to jump-start positive behavior change and help reframe our relationship with money, so people can live their lives with less stress and more joy.
