MAI Capital Management, LLC (“MAI”), an independent registered investment adviser specializing in comprehensive estate, financial planning and investments for high-net-worth individuals and families, appoints R.J. Nemer as its Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer. Nemer will be responsible for leading the company’s marketing and branding efforts. He will also drive business development and design and implement client acquisition strategies to support the firm’s organic growth. Nemer will report to MAI Managing Partner Rick Buoncore.
Nemer joins MAI from William Morris Endeavor/IMG where he served as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Golf Clients. Nemer founded Icon Sports Management in 1998 and developed his expertise in the marketing and management of professional golfers. He expanded the firm into a global brand and one of the largest independently-owned golf management and marketing agencies in the world. In the last two years, MAI has experienced sustained growth and has expanded its reach to new geographies via acquisition. In 2019, the firm added three new locations after acquiring J.M. Hartwell in New York City, MTX Wealth Management in Reston, Virginia and partnering with John D. Dovich & Associates in Cincinnati. Additionally, the firm also expanded its reach within Ohio with the acquisitions of the wealth management division of CCI Financial Group in Akron and Rodman Capital Management in Alliance.

Nemer earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and his Juris Doctor from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio in 1990 and 1995 respectively. He resides in Hudson, Ohio and is an active member of the community, serving on the boards of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the development committee for the Walsh Jesuit High School, The PGA Bridgestone Senior Players Tournament, the Northern Ohio Section of the PGA of America and as the co-chair of the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital Golf Outing.
