Backstop Solutions Group, the leading cloud-based productivity suite provider for institutional and alternative investors, today announced the appointment of Sara Schroeder to the role of SVP, People and Development. In this role, Schroeder will lead Backstop’s people strategy, responsible for further developing and enhancing the company’s employee-focused culture while continuing to help the organization grow and scale. She will also focus on building new programs aimed at amplifying employee performance, growth, and engagement. Schroeder will report directly to Backstop CEO Clint Coghill.

“I am thrilled to welcome Sara to the Backstop family,” said Coghill. “Her talent for helping organizations scale while continuing to invest in their people is a rare skill set and one that is of the utmost importance to our organization. I’m fully confident in her ability to help us maintain our culture and commitment to employees during this exciting time of growth here at Backstop. Sara’s role will be key as we all work together to fulfill our vision of helping the institutional investment community live ahead of the curve.”

Before joining Backstop, Schroeder served as VP of People at Maropost, a Toronto-based customer engagement platform. There, Schroeder launched the company’s first U.S. location and nurtured the employer brand, leading to the company’s recognition as a “Rising Star” finalist at the ITA CityLIGHTS Awards. Globally, Sara implemented successful employee engagement programs as well as communication and organization initiatives that resulted in reduced turnover and headcount growth of 20 percent.

Prior to Maropost, Schroeder served as the Global Head of HR at Signal, a SaaS-based marketing technology company headquartered in Chicago. While at Signal, she optimized people operations, established several diversity initiatives, expanded performance management, and built a new training function, all while growing headcount 40 percent as the company expanded into new offices internationally. During her tenure, Signal was recognized by the Inc. 5000, Deloitte’s Fast 500, Chicago Inno, ITA CityLIGHTS and Built In Chicago’s Best places to Work.

“Backstop’s commitment to people, both employees and clients, really drew me to this role,” said Schroeder. “I am passionate about the employee experience and its impact on organizational success and look forward to the ways I can use my skills to help continue and expand upon this organization’s truly exceptional culture, which is a rare mix of market-leading products, highly engaged and valued talent, and a trajectory of continued growth that Clint and his team have worked so hard to establish.”
